Xavien Washington caught the attention of people inside the Wawa store on Butler Road in Fredericksburg around 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, after dropping his firearm on the floor while stumbling around in the business, Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur said.

The 19-year-old Manassas man then tried buying tobacco without an ID, police said. When staff refused to sell him the product, he asked to buy drugs from them, Decatur said.

Deputies quickly found Washington and, when they detained him, he asked how long he'd be in jail for, police said.

Meanwhile, deputies conducted a pat down search and found a handgun in Washington's waistband.

Using the camera footage, deputies confirmed the fumbling firearm fiasco, and discovered Washington had driven to the store in a stolen car, police said. Within the vehicle were drugs, a large amount of ammunition, and a rifle, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect also had a protective order out of Prince William County which restricted him from being in possession of a firearm, police said. Despite having no driver’s license, Washington admitted this would be his second DUI.

Washington was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years, unauthorized use of a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm while a protective order is in effect, possession of controlled substances, underage possession of tobacco, and second offense driving without a driver’s license. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
